Attic cat - Let's talk about Jung Da Bin aka Dae Mi

Well, this is kind of confusing. You can skip this paragraph if maths are a headache for you. I have my rule to watch Korean series and it is a 1-2-3 rule. So, I am watching at anytime at the same time three series. The oldest one is being watched as 3 chapters in a row and the newest one is being watched as a single chapter. The oldest one is finished and the newest one matures and eventually becomes the oldest one, so it has its stages, the newest one is being watched as a single chapter, the middle one is being watched as a pair of chapters and you already know how the oldest one is being watched. And so we arrived at what I was going to say. I finished Attic cat before Bad couple and so Attic cat is really the 102nd series in my Hallyu promenade and not Bad couple as it was stablished in the previous staircase.
Attic cat was selected because Jung Da Bin. I met her firstly in She is nineteen, my 100th watched series. In that series I was really surprised to find the most dainty and beautiful Korean actress I have ever seen and my surprise was not having seen her in any other previously watched series. It is a truth that She is nineteen was a series broadcasted in 2004. So I thought, well, it was just luck to skip this lady's where she played series before. As soon as I finish She is nineteen I wanted to watch her again. It was then when I knew she played a very similar role in Attic cat, a 2003 series. In my one hundred promenade I have seen many series from the last ten years and just a handful of them broadcasted before 2008. It is needed to remember that Hallyu term appeared after Winter Sonata, broadcasted in 2002, the series that make all Asia in love with Korean doramas, and my 98th watched series. But Hallyu have evolved to real chef d'oeuvres nowadays. So, watching a series broadcasted previously to 2008 is like going into the archives to look for a parchment incunabula. What happened to Jung Da Bin for not being in the recent series? Before answering such a question let me tell you the roles she played in Attic cat and in She is nineteen. In Attic cat she is simply a policeman's daughter left behind in Seoul as her family moves away as per her own wishes. She is a really hardworking girl whom a disgraceful, immature, compulsive liar and gambler but bright law student makes her life a mess after she fell in love with him. She helps him to prepare his civil service exam by supporting him through cooking, washing his clothes, avoiding the gambling and giving him shelter in a non very standard way for sheltering because he is the one who really paid the deposit for the rooftop where they live and so he has some kind of rights to live there. He is a born with a silver spoon guy but in reality an idiotic human being in the broadest sense of the Greek etymology root to idiot, totally self centred. I really hated him after all the sixteen chapters. But so are many women. They only and blindly fall in love without reserves as the love must be lived. When you watch it from a distance, you know it is not right, however, as much as I shout her mistakes at TV she did not realize them and kept committing them on. Her role in She is nineteen is the very same hardworking girl who ploughs forward whatever she face but she was not poor originally, she is a stolen born with a silver spoon child who after all the ups and downs that she suffers at the very end and after all the devilish plot the screenwriter vomited from her brain she finally returns to her position as a chaebol. There is another difference in Jung Da Bin among the two series. In the 2003 one she is still a natural actress not so dainty and not so beautiful, however, for the 2004 series, it is evident her visit to the plastic surgeon who really made a chef d'oeuvre. Jung Da Bin is Dae Mi (美丽 the beauty in itself). This really hard working beautiful girl passed away in 2007 and such is the reason I did not crash with her in another previously watched by me series. She died in her boyfriend's department, him being a chaebol was free of any guilt to claim she has committed suicide. Is it true? Is it true she died by her own hands because she could not get a new role in a new series just after waiting only less than two years? Or was it a plot to save him of being accused for strangled her as per she was found hanged in a towel? Jung Da Bin life deserves a biographical dorama. Man at work!
